Questions patients ask

Which appliance will I need?

It depends on your symptoms, examination and treatment goals. Your evaluation comes first.

Will my appliance be adjusted over time?

Yes. Dr. Leon evaluates the fit and function of each appliance and makes adjustments as your needs change.

  • Comprehensive TMJ evaluation

We start by looking at the whole picture: your health history, symptoms, jaw joints and muscles, teeth and bite, jaw movement, and posture. We also consider whether surrounding tissues or pain coming from another area may be involved. Treatment recommendations are based on your individual findings.

  • Sleep and airway

Snoring, waking up gasping, or tired no matter how long you sleep? The office can arrange a home sleep study read by a sleep physician. For patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea who are good candidates, Dr. Leon makes custom, adjustable oral appliances, in coordination with your medical or sleep provider.

  • Neuromodulator (Botox) therapy

For jaw-muscle pain and clenching, Dr. Leon treats the muscles your evaluation points to, not a fixed pattern. She works with several products, including BOTOX Cosmetic, DAXXIFY, XEOMIN, Dysport and Jeuveau, and walks you through the options, what to expect and the limits before you decide.
